My side of the proposal-

Martin and I began dating in the fall of 1993. We spent alot of time together. My two children started to get used to him too. Our lives were a little chaotic and our lifestyle was pretty crazy. We fought and made up like any new couple but there was one time I was sure it was over. Martin left back to Mexico and I thought I would never see him again. I got a job, had a lot of parties, met new people but I just could not get Martin off of my mind. I didn't know where he lived in Mexico and I had no idea where to find him. One day I thought to look through some old phone bills and I found a number in Mexico on it. I called it and asked for Martin. I didn't know it then, but I was calling a "caseta" in the next town over from where his family lived. I did not understand it but basically a caseta is a telephone booth inside a corner store that you can make calls at and it also receives messages left for people in the town. I continued calling and Martin was never there (how could he be? it would be such a coincidence, right?) One day, one of Martin's cousins happened to be in the store and overheard my phone call. He went to the next town over to find him and tell him that an American lady was calling and looking for him. He called me back and I told him I wanted him to return. I told him I missed him and I loved him. He said he would try to come back. That was the late summer of 1994. One day I received a letter from Martin and it had the lyrics to a beautiful song by Ana Gabriel called "LUNA". I remember wondering where Martin was and began singing the song looking at the moon in the San Diego night sky, realizing the words were so true. I began to cry and then even, lose hope because I wondered if he would ever come back. Then, one day in December I got the call. He was in Tijuana waiting for me....what a beautiful, happy, exciting day that was. I went down to see him and within a few short weeks he came back to the USA and me! On Christmas Eve, 1994- Martin proposed by giving me the sweetest diamond ever right by the Christmas tree in my living room on Ulric Street. I was surprised and so happy. My Martin was finally home.

The way I think Martin sees it-
