The proposal came about after we moved to Dallas. When we moved up here i wanted to get Whitney a ring and make it official. But by this time i was a full time student, so I went from working at a grocery store for awhile to then just working on weekends for Whitney's cousins Mark and Kat Greenup. I was broke but able to save up and buy her a ring in time for her birthday December 24th. Since her birthday was next to Christmas day there was of course Christmas lights and that cold winter air. Being at her dads house at night in a building built in the early 1900s only felt right for the occasion, being raised in that type of setting and the fact that me and Whitney love history and old buildings to me was the definition of perfect. We arrived at Mr. and Mrs. Greenup's house at 8:00 P.M. We unloaded our stuff and then I pulled Eva aside and told her what i got Whitney for her birthday. She had no idea and not saying anything, I pulled out a ring box and opened it and immediately she started to look up at the ceiling and wave her hands at her eyes to hold back tears. I said "hey Whitney's coming take these pork rinds and hot sauce and if she asks tell her i asked you to try them and they were too hot". After words I asked Whitney if she wanted to come out to the rooftop porch with me. We sat down and her grandmother happened to be outside, but I grabbed her hands anyway, and told her i loved her and that i know i didn't have that much money but that I did what I could, and I pulled out the ring and asked her if she would marry me... and... she said Yes!
