| | | I had the day off work on Halloween. I spent most of the day planning my costume for my uncle's Halloween party that night (because I'm the queen of procrastination). Brad told me that he would drive us to the party that night and to just meet him at his house. I got to his house and it appeared as if he had just gotten home from work. I asked him how is day went and he replied, "it was pretty boring." He got ready to go to the party and off we went. He turned down a very familiar road to me, but I knew it wasn't on our way. I asked him where we were going and he said that we needed to make a quick stop. We made it to a place that we call "our spot." It is a small bridge that goes over a creek that is located off of a back road in Lexington. We pulled over and walked onto the bridge to enjoy the scenery. After a few minutes, Brad looked at me and said that it looked like I was missing something from my costume. I looked my superwoman costume over and said, "what?" I looked up right at the time he reached into his coat pocket. I was starting to figure out what was happening! He knelt down on one knee and replied, "this ring." He opened the ring box, but I didn't even look at the ring because my eyes were locked on Brad. I was so in shock that I just started crying! He told me that he couldn't go another day without knowing that I'd become his wife. Then he said the four words that changed my life forever. "Will you marry me?" Of course, I said yes! The ring was a perfect fit, much like the way Brad is a perfect fit for me. I had prayed for God to show me who my future husband was for so long, and now I finally know! Brad is the piece to my puzzle that I didn't know was missing. I wanted a husband and someone to share my life with. When Brad came into my life, I got so much more than that. I found my soulmate. I love you Brad! |
 | | I had secretly taken off work on Halloween to go ring shopping in Louisville. In no time I had found the perfect ring! I originally thought that I would have to come back another day to pick it up, but to my surprise, the jeweler told me that they'd have it ready that day! I got in the car to head home and thought to myself, "I actually have an engagement ring, I can propose anytime I want now!". I hadn't picked a day to propose yet, but now having a ring in my hand, I couldn't stop thinking about it. The more I thought about it, the more I knew I couldn't wait another day, I just had to propose that night. I met Courtney later that evening, we were going to her family's house to pass out candy for halloween. She was dressed in her halloween costume and had no idea what I was hiding in my coat pocket. I drove and told her that I wanted to make a quick stop along the way. I took her to a bridge over a creek in Lexington, a place that we had visited a few times in the past because of the pretty scenery, a place that we called "our spot". When I pulled up to the place my heart began to pound out of my chest, I was so nervous! we walked to the edge to look at the water. After a few minutes I worked up the courage to go for it. I told her "Oh no!, you're missing a piece to your costume!". She asked "what?" and I reached in my pocket for the ring and dropped to one knee and said "this ring". I'll never forget her reaction! She was speechless and started to cry, which I have to admit made me cry too. She said "Are you serious!?". I told her "I don't want to go another minute without knowing for certain that you're my future wife, will you marry me?". Well, she said yes!!! I've not stopped smiling since. Courtney has made me the happiest I have ever been and I can't wait to be the best husband to her that I can be. I love you Courtney! |
