Derek chose their 2 year anniversary as the perfect day to propose. On December 18, 2015, Derek woke Darian up at 4 am and told her to put on some comfy clothes. After a lot of confusion and a 4 hour car ride, they arrived at Shenandoah State Park in Virginia. "Suprise!" Derek says. "We're going on a hike to the highest peak in the park!" Darian was not too thrilled. After a grueling 5 hour hike, they finally made it to the first peak. on the way back down the trail, Derek told Darian that he had a gift. Annoyed, cold, and exhausted, Darian was in no mood for anymore suprises. When she turned around, Derek was on one knee. At that moment all the negativity was gone. The pair happily finished the hike and headed home to share the news.
