Bride

We went for a walk in the park in Waxahachie, a place we had gone to many times including a "date"/picnic several years prior.  We strolled along the trail until we came upon a wooden swing underneath an old pecan tree.  We sat and talked for a long time and Andrew was telling Navy stories when he started telling me about something he purchased in Lithuania.  He said that he'd told his family and friends that if they ever saw a lady with this particular item it was because she was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.  He then pulled out a small, black box and handed it to me.  Inside was a beautiful amber pendant in the shape of a heart!  I was beside myself with excitement because of the significance of what he had just told me!  In giving me this small heart, he was telling me that I had his and THAT was worth waiting for.

So while Erin was busy spazzing out over the pendant I had just presented her with, I was busy fishing a second box out of my pocket that I'd snuck out of the car when she wasn't looking.  I saw the excitement on her face and knew she had no idea what was coming...well except for the fact that I'd basically just told her I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her.  So I said that because of what I'd just told her, I had a question to ask her and slid off the swing and sank to one knee in front of her.  Curious onlookers walking the trail at sunset  stopped to watch as I opened the box and the fading sunlight caught the center sapphire full-on and Erin started going, "Oooh, ooh, ooh, ooh".  I asked her if she would marry me and she just kept making that sound and waving her hands in front of her face like she was being swarmed by gnats.  Sooo...I asked again and with tears in her eyes, she finally said yes!  Even the onlookers were impressed.

We left the park and called our parents who were all thrilled and the calls and texts started pouring in, not to mention all the Facebook comments.  All in all, it was a very special and successful day!
