Mr. David Durham and Ms. Shamra Condie
Our Story
From the beginning it was meant to be... Two independent young adults taking a risk to pursue their dreams, and meeting by chance in an unexpected place.
Dave had recently moved to the small city of Camarillo in Sourthern California. An engineering graduate from UCSB, Dave had left Santa Barbara to relocate with his employer to this new locale and create a new milestone in his career. Shamra, looking to further her education at Cal State Channel Islands, said goodbye to her family and friends in her country-esque home of Hanford. Her sights, too, were set on Camarillo, a quaint little town and only a short drive from her new university.
It may have been luck. It may have been divine intervention. It may have been the fact that their apartment complex was the only one within a 25 mile radius that allowed large dogs. Regardless of the reason, fate happened to pick the empty apartment above Dave's as Shamra's new residence. And for that we will always be amazed and grateful.
Because it was love at first sight for both of us.
It didn't take long until the first date. And then the first kiss. As our lives in Camarillo began to grow and develop, our relationship became stronger and the bond between us grew deeper. Time went on and we realized that neither of us were independent anymore. We were now dependent on one-another. It was a feeling of love that neither one of us had ever expected to experience.
And before we knew it, it was almost three years after our first date. We were sitting on a beach under the stars in Maui, and Dave secretely hid in his pocket a ring for Shamra's finger.
Did Shamra know tonight was the night? No...
Did the incredible sense of nervous excitement show on Dave's face? Maybe...
Did we already consider eachother to be "the one?" Probably...
Did Shamra say yes when Dave proposed that we spend the rest of their lives together?
Absoultely...
Our Wedding
Our wedding and ceremony are taking place on Electra Cruises' Athena Yacht in Newport Beach Harbor. Please make sure you show up early because we have to leave the dock at 6:00pm sharp, and we want to make sure you are there to join us in the celebration! We expect it to be an exciting and unique experience for everyone as we cruise around the harbor with our close family & friends and celebrate until the event ends at 10:00pm.
The Athena is one big boat! She can seat 150 for dinner on the upper deck, and has two full bars (one upper and one lower). The yacht is equipped with a full catering galley, silver chafers, and coffee and tea urns. Service will be provided on fine china and linens. The main salon on the lower deck has 65 feet of leather sofas and a baby grand player piano, and has four large restrooms. There is plenty of room for everyone and the yacht is steady and slow, so dont' have any worries about getting sea sick.
