Ruby Lee & John Foley
Our Story
We met on October 25, 2008 at (John's brother) Bo's annual Halloween party. John was dressed as Kim Kardashian and Ruby was John's brother Timothy - or maybe it was the other way around. At any rate, Ruby's intuition (fueled by a drink or two) prompted her to make a public proclamation that we would one day marry. As always, she was right.
It took some months to make the necessary arrangements and get everyone on board (gag): (i) Ruby bonding with the kids; (ii) John sharing Chimay with Bruce Lee; (iii) Butch (John's dad) "embarassing himself" in front of Ruby; (iv) John meeting Ruby's other wife, Louisa, plus Ash & co., and other Boston pals; (v) Ruby proving that she can drink as much Irish whiskey as the other Foleys - thanks, G-dad; (vi) Michael and the kids toasting root beer and riding roller coasters; (vii) the Foley brothers brushing up on their Asian jokes; (viii) Gail & Butch (John's parents) preparing themselves for their best cruise ever; (ix) Steve & Karen (Ruby's parents) preparing themselves for their first cruise ever (Dad, we promise there is an all you can eat buffet - and no dogs onboard) and finally (x) there was the matter of popping the question, which John skillfully delegated to his kids.
Our Wedding
We are getting married on June 26, 2010 on Carnival's newest ship, the Dream. We are having a simple ceremony featuring Kelsey, Aiden and Rian (John's amazing kids) and are fortunate that our family (6 brothers in all) and close friends will be there with us (hailing from China, Belgium, Boston, and, of course, exotic Stafford, VA). Ahoy!
Our Reception
We are having two "receptions" - the first is on the ship on June 26th for cruisers and anyone else who wants to make the trip to Port Canaveral (pros: the beach, getting to board the ship, watching Ruby say vows; cons: airfare). The second will be a casual party in Norfolk on July 17th when we return. We hope that you can make one of the receptions; if not, please make plans to visit us in the coming year!
