Katie McCalla & Aaron Adams
Our Story
Well most of you know we have a unique story to tell our grandkids one day...
Aaron and I met in Lexington, BUT we are both from Gallipolis, Ohio. I came to Lexington to go to college in 2002 at the University of Kentucky while Aaron already lived in Lexington working as a Police Officer. When I started working at Victoria's Secret at the mall part-time, Donna Broyles (Aaron's aunt and also my little brother, T.Jaye's babysitter for many many years) would tell me how her nephew worked at the mall as a security guard and that I should introduce myself to him. Well if you haven't guessed by now I never did end up talking with him.
A year or so passed and I became friends with one of my managers at Ruby Tuesday's (my new job) and she always told me about this cute police officer who was also from southern Ohio that lived in the same apartment complex as her. She also encouraged me to come lay by the pool with her but again I never did. I never knew it, but that cute officer was Aaron.
After my college graduation, I moved back to Gallipolis where I accepted a job offer working as a Case Manager for a drug treatment alternative program. Six months went by and I realized I missed living in Lexington so I moved back. It wasn't easy finding a job so I went back to work at Cheddar's Casual Cafe working as a waitress. I also would babysit from time to time for my friend Jennifer who also worked at Cheddar's. Her boyfriend Jeff, also a Lexington police officer, tried several times to hook me up with his best friend "Aaron". Jeff thought since we were both Buckeye freaks that we belonged together...
Jan. 2008 roles around and Ohio State goes to the Chamionship game in New Orleans! Unfortunately we lost the game (again), but fate brought me down south I just know it! In the middle of the game my step-mother called me like 5 times begging me to call "Donna's nephew" because he was in New Orleans too and he didn't have a ticket to the game. I pretended to write down his number until she said, "(859)..." I said, "Wait! That is Lexington's area code!" Then she reminded me about Donna's nephew who worked at the mall when I did. It all came back to me. So I text him explaining who I was and that if he was bored that he could meet up with my friends and I. He declinded! haha And that was it....
Driving home the next morning with a hangover, I had many hours of thinking to do in order to stay awake. All of a sudden something hit me! I thought to myself, "Aaron is the name of the guy who Jeff always tried to hook me up with." (CONTINUED BELOW...)
Our Wedding
Ran out of room....
So I called my friend Jennifer and said, "you know that guy you and Jeff always try to hook me up with...he wouldn't happen to be in New Orleans too would he?" She responded, "YEEESSS!?!" I then explained to her how his aunt had babysat for my little bother for years and that she always tried fixing us up too! That next Saturday, Aaron and I met for the first time at a small pub. There I learned that he went to H.S. with my brothers, he used to date my sister-in-law and we drank the same type of beer! : ) The night after that he took me to dinner and we haven't left each others side since!
