 | With both of us being HUGE Disney fans, it was only fitting that the most magical day of our lives should be in the most magical place on Earth.
David’s wonderful parents invited us to visit Disney with them on their yearly May visit. It was our first day in Disney and the very well-planned itinerary had us scheduled to spend the day in Epcot. We had a blast creating our own cars to race on the Test Track and checking out the sights when it was decided that we would be travelling over to Magic Kingdom. David and his parents came up with a clever excuse for us to go there (even though it wasn’t on the itinerary until the next day): Princess Aurora, my favorite Disney princess, would be signing autographs today only. So we rode the Monorail to the ferry and sailed our way to Magic Kingdom- in what became torrential downfall. By the time we arrived at the arches behind the castle where Aurora was signing autographs, we were completely drenched. That is until the sun came out, which was great for drying our clothes but also created a whole lot of humidity. Needless to say, I was a hot mess just in time to take pictures with my favorite princess. When it was our turn to meet the princess, I was so excited and completely forgot about what we looked like. I had a nice conversation with her about meeting my Prince Charming while she signed autographs and took a few pictures with us. I thanked her and turned to leave when David took my hand and pulled me back to him. He looked so calm, happy, and sincere as he told me how much he loved me and how incredible our first year together has been. I smiled and blushed as he professed his love for me in front of his parents, a long line of fellow Aurora admirers, and a few Disney photographers. As blissful as I felt standing there with him, holding his hand and looking into his eyes in the heart of Disney World, I couldn’t have imagined the incredible surprise that was yet to come. David knelt down on one knee, looked up at me with all the love in the world, and presented me with the most beautiful diamond engagement ring! The sound of his voice as he asked “Tiffany Lyn McDonald, will you marry me?” will forever be the stuff of dreams. I could barely squeak out a “yes” as I repeatedly shook my head up and down with pure excitement and love. Not only did we have a squad of Disney photographers to capture this magical moment, but David’s parents were both taking pictures and videos of the entire fairytale proposal as it happened. We have watched that video hundreds of times since that magical moment and every time, we are filled with just as much love and elation as the day that it happened. It was the most romantic, magical day of our lives and we are so excited to live Happily Ever After!
