In May of 2017 we planned a mini getaway to Atlanta. His birthday is also in May and since I was going to be away on an internship for 3 months I decided to give him a surprise. With help from his mom I got him a voucher to drive a car at the Porche Experience Center. Little did I know that he also had a surprise for me.

On our last night, May 7th, we were just about to leave for dinner when he said he forgot something in the hotel room. Instead of waiting for him in the lobby I went upstairs with him. While he "searched" his bags I decided to lay across the bed, on Facebook, snacking on beef jerky. 

I had just put a rather large piece of beef jerky in my mouth when I heard him say "hey babe, I have a question for you". When I turned around he was down on one knee with his grandmother's ring. Before he could say anything I spit out the jerky, fell to the floor, put my face in his chest and said "YES!!"  

I am not sure when there was an exact time I knew I was going to propose to Cristaly. I would say things just progressed naturally and when I stopped to think about it, I realized that I couldn't see myself living life with anyone other than Cristaly. 

I decided a perfect time to propose would be our first vacation together where we were not visiting family. Atlanta was strictly for us to go out and enjoy a small vacation weekend. I was going to propose over dinner, but at the elevators when I said I needed to get something out of the room Cristaly said she would go back too. It ruined my plan to propose over dinner as there was no way I could fish a ring box out of my bag while she was in the room. Ultimately, on our last day at the hotel, I decided to propose before our vacation was over. It would be a perfect ending to the weekend before we had to drive back home.
