One afternoon in the fall of 2010, Tyler sat in front of his laptop browsing the many profiles of Plenty of Fish, a free dating website catered to broke chumps like himself. You see, he had grown tired of his string of bad luck in the romance department, and while there had yet to be anyone that truly caught his eye, he was not ready to give up just yet. As it so happens, that very afternoon, he received a “Favorite” notification on his account; for those whom are unaware, that means someone found you interesting, but did not want to say anything right away. Being the curious lad that he was, Tyler checked into this notification and it revealed the profile of a woman in an office building – wearing an Alice in Wonderland costume – looking for a penguin. 

 

Peculiar as that seemed at first, a few traits caught his attention immediately: First, she understood the concept of real words and full sentences; second, there was not a single mention or complaint about how she had been “wronged in the past” or “men are all D-bags but I’m on a dating website to find one anyway”. This woman – she understood the value of advertising!! 

 

As a metaphorical fish would be, Tyler decided to nibble on her hook, and that’s how the initial 3 week Get-to-Know-You email and text session began with Charlotte. Who is Charlotte, you ask? Well, Tyler apparently thought she was for the longest time. Could you blame him? ‘Twas her email address trickery that was to blame – “immacharlotte84”…ridiculous.
