We met twenty-five years ago at my cousin Chilton's birthday/graduation party and while it wasn't exactly love at first sight a great friendship was born. After some pit falls we started dating in December 1984. Our first date was the Christmas dance at my high school. I had to ask HIM out. After many years of dating and lots of growing up (on both of our parts) B.J. surprised me with a trip to Disney World (which is one of our favorite places.) On this particular trip he got down on one knee in front of Mickey Mouse and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him as his wife. Of course, through my tears, I said "YES!!!" When I called my mom and my best friend to tell them they both asked if I'd been drinking. I wonder what that says about me? So, anyway, for the past year and a half we've been trying to plan a wedding twenty-five years in the making. No easy feat when everyone has their own ideas of what we should do!
Here is what we decided to do:
Since we had already decided to take our first vacation together as a family (in Disney, natch!) it made sense to get married while we were all together. Just our immediate families and a few of our dearest friends. (We wish we could have everyone we love come down to celebrate with us but we know that that's just not doable.) We're not doing anything fancy just an intimate ceremony with B.J.'s sister Donna officiating and our loved ones gathered around.
I know that this is a very short version of our great romance but I think I'll save the rest of the space for the parts we haven't lived yet!
On Friday October 30th at 8:30 pm B.J. and I will tie the knot on the deck of the Grand One Yacht on the Seven Seas Lagoon in Walt Disney World. In attendance will be Mrs. Judy Hastings and Mr. Donald Stevens, Mrs. Pat Mocarsky and Mr. Tony Mocarsky (who will be giving me away), LaDonna Puryear (she'll be conducting the ceremony) and just a few more close friends.
It will be a very informal wedding on the lake and we plan on saying our vows just before the "Wishes" fireworks show begins. With any luck our first kiss as husband and wife will take place right as the first one breaks overhead.
After the wedding we'll have a chance to enjoy the fireworks and see the Lighted Parade of Boats and sail around the lake for a bit, sipping champagne and enjoying each others company. Afterwards, we'll return to our condo for some light refreshment and maybe some swimming.
We plan on having a huge party at our house in the spring and we hope all of our friends will join us to celebrate our marriage. When we have more details we'll let everyone know.
We love all of you and hope you wish us well as we begin our lives together. Thank you all for being a part of our marriage and our lives!
