Our Story

We met at the wedding of a mutual friend, Lisa. Lisa's mom, Donna told me that there was a really nice guy over by the bar and that I needed to go talk to him. She then went to Jack and said there was a really nice girl that he needed to go talk to. We met and started talking to each other. We exchanged numbers, but there was a catch. Jack said he was going to Canada for 10 days and he would call when he got back. I didn't really believe him. As soon as he got home from Canada he called. Our first date was at Pepperwood Grill, where we met before I had to drive back to West Virginia, where I was living at the time. To make a long story short, the first year of our relationship was long distance. Jack would travel 2 hours to see me for a few hours and then turn around and go home. What a guy!
Jack has been telling me since we met how GREAT cruises are. After 3 long years I finally told him that we were going this summer. We chose a 7 day cruise on the Carnival Liberty. Our first island stop was Half Moon Cay. I thought it was absolutely beautiful. It was raining when we got there and we almost didn't get off the ship. But we did and it turned into a gorgeous day. Jack really wanted to go horseback riding but it was all sold out. I couldn't figure out why he was so upset about it. After a wonderful day in gorgeous blue waters we decided to head back to the boat. I was nervous because I didn't want be late and miss the boat. Jack "needed" to go take a picture of the chapel on the island. I begrudgingly went with him. He took his picture and then got down on the ground. I asked him what he was doing in a very upset voice. At this point he was on one knee and I was speechless (yes it does happen on occasion.)He said he loves me more than anything and would I be his wife. I said “YES!” He opened the ring box and my eyes just about bugged out of my head. The ring was absolutely beautiful. It was a perfect fit. That night at dinner our head waiter brought our desserts with candles in it. The wait staff sang us “Happy Engagement to You.”
