Daniel and I (Lyndell) met Summer 2005 at Camas Meadows Bible Camp, where we were both camp councilors. It wasn't until the following summer that we began to develop feelings for each other. However, neither of us had any clue of the other persons crush and when camp was over we both went our separate ways. I went back to Oregon, and he to his lifelong home in Cashmere.
The flame rekindled at a staff work retreat about a year later. He took me for my first motorcycle ride that week and I was a goner; completely twitter patted. I had been thinking about moving back to the Wenatchee area and when I mentioned this to him I was surprised at how quickly he spluttered, “You should!” (Keep in mind we still have no idea that we like each other at this point)
Well needless to say I moved back. Daniel wasted no time. I arrived October 1, 2007 and by the 10th he asked me “out.” Once he got permission from my father, we officially became a couple November 27th.
It has been an adventure full of wonderful memories, which bring us to here, to the engagement.
On February 15, 2009 he picked me up at 9:00am. The snow fell softly as we climbed into his truck and headed to “Foundations,” a discipleship training center. He popped Led Zeppelin into the CD player and we both hummed along softly. We parked at one of the cabins and made a short trek up to the library. There on the table was a basket with pancake making supplies, candles, sparkling cider, and one of the roses I had dried from the first bouquet he had given me. He started a fire and cooked me pancakes on the wood stove, meanwhile the ring burned a hole in his left pocket. After I had finished eating I sat on one of the couches fiddling with my fingers. I looked up as he got down on one knee and said, “Lyndell Christine Whitham will you marry me?”
