Jay: I joined the YAC Choir and really had no interest, I was seeking a stronger relationship with Christ. I had no time for a relationship, because 2 weeks prior I ended a 3-year relationship. After while "the group" started hanging out and I found out she had a birthday coming up, being nice I offered to take her to dinner. We did dinner and started what we now do on a regular basis when the weather permits, walking along the Battery & Waterfront. After a while we started talking on the phone for hours, crazy thing is that she stressed that she doesn't like talking on the phone and we held conversations for hours, go figure. You didn't have to be a rocket scientist to tell that GOD was all over this. I won't give all the details, I'll let her give you a little bit. The courtship was awesome, I'll leave it at that. We grew on each other for a while, almost a year to be exact. Don't want to make this too long, but soon after, I felt led to start thinking about my future, who and what I wanted, it was all in her. She has shown me the true definition of a "beautiful person." Around came May 08. I had contemplated marriage, but was nervous! I mean heck, I've never been married before. This one day The Lord allowed so many things to take place, and the timing couldn't have been better. All of her plans were canceled and it was a pretty bad hail storm going on, so that we couldn't leave the house. We had a very stimulating conversation, and I "strategically" made my way off of the couch to kneel and ask her to be my wife!!!! With all sincerity, and then...... she laughs.......
Nikki: Okay i've been procrastinating about writing my side of the story.:-) I remember meeting Jay thinking he was a nice looking guy and seemed very cool too! But when I found out he had a girl friend that was a wrap for me. Well my friends (whom I love dearly) decided they were gonna do some investigating for me and found out that he and his girl had recently broken up. Of course I was thinking i'm not tryin to jump into any relationship with someone just getting out of one. But as you can see God had another plan. Some time went on and my birthday came along and Jay decided he wanted to take me out for my birthday, which was 10 days after it, lol, he thinks he's slick!! I agreed and really didn't see it as a date at all, but I also had a wonderful time. I could really be myself around him.It didn't take long for that date to turn into what we have now.I'm so comfortable around him.I can be my silly crazy self. God knew that an made us especially for each other.
Our Wedding will be held on June 20th 2009 A 4:00PM sharp, at Royal Missionary Baptist Church in North Charleston, South Carolina. The wedding colors will be apricot, White, and Champagne.
The Reception will be held at The Officer's Club located on the Charleston AFB!!! Due to the size of both families, the reception will be for family and by invitation only. If you've seen either of our families you would definitely understand!! :-) Thank you very much!!!
