It’s hard to believe that we met two years ago on September 12, 2006 while attending dancing lessons at Skate Odyssey in Huntsville, Alabama. Neither of us went to that dance lesson with the anticipation or thought of that we would meet that “Special Someone” or how our lives would be changed forever. Who would have thought that through learning the Three Step Swing, Foxtrot, Tango, Waltz or the Rumba an amazing friendship and bond could have formed so strong and easily.
Little did we know the relevance in a poem that I gave to Steve on his birthday two short weeks after we met and became dance partners. I want to share that poem with you that served as an inspiration for us as we Dance Together, with God.
“Dancing With God”
When I meditated on the word Guidance, I kept seeing "dance" at the end of the word. I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing. When two people try to lead, nothing feels right.
The movement doesn't flow with the music, and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky. When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead, both bodies begin to flow with the music.
One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back or by pressing lightly in one direction or another. It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully. The dance takes surrender, willingness, and attentiveness from one person and gentle guidance and skill from the other.
My eyes drew back to the word Guidance. When I saw "G: I thought of God, followed by "u" and "i". "God, "u" and "i" dance." God, you, and I dance. As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust that I would get guidance about my life. Once again, I became willing to let God lead.
My prayer for you today is that God's blessings and mercies be upon you on this day and everyday. May you abide in God as God abides in you. Dance together with God, trusting God to lead and to guide you through each season of your life.
As we dance together as husband and wife we also share this dance, our hearts, our friendship, our lives, our family and our love for one another with God. We sincerely hope you can come to share in our joy and time of celebration.
Love,
Paula and Steve

On September 12, 2006 God blessed our lives by allowing us the honor of waltzing our way into the hearts of one another. In recognition of the day that changed both of our lives forever, we will happily and with joyful hearts exchange our vows and commit our hearts together as husband and wife.
