We met let's see about 20 years ago. We were neighborhood friends and childhood sweethearts. We grew up in the same neighborhood and played in trees and in the water many days from the ages of 8 to 16. We graduated high school and went our separate ways. After about 13 years apart and reconnecting through mutual friends. We met once again at a little reunion of high school friends. It was like we picked up where we left off 13 years before. We were immediately best friends again. So we began to spend more time together and realized that it was more than just a wonderful friendship it was true love. The formal proposal took place in Gatlinburg, TN November 2007. While shopping downtown we found the perfect unique ring, Tanzanite in white gold. We were so thrilled. It was assumed that it would be put away for a special day. To much a surprise later that evening amongst many Christmas lights, in the middle of the street, John knelt on one knee and proposed and of course was accepted.
One of our favorite things to do together is travel, in the past year we have: been to the beaches of North Carolina, the Outer Banks and Wilmington; traveled the Blue Ridge Parkway, Boone, Pilot Mountain, Asheville; Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, TN; Jacksonville, West Palm Beach, Tampa, Florida; Savannah, GA; Charleston, SC; New York City, NY; Philadelphia, PA; Washington, DC. Most of all we enjoy spending time with each other, family and friends.
A simple marriage ceremony was held in Gatlingburg, TN on June 25th, 2008. We will be having a lakeside blessing at sunset at Bay Tree Lakes at the Club House and Beach area. We couldn’t think of a better place due to all of the memories here. The place we grew up together and first became great friends. Bay Tree Lakes is located on Hwy 41 North 5 miles beyond White Lake. A gate attendant will be available to allow entrance to the community from 5pm to 6:15pm. We request that all guests arrive before 6:15pm. Please dress comfortably with sand friendly shoes.
Our reception will be held immediately following the blessing in the Club House. A meal will be served. All guests are invited to stay and enjoy our celebration. We will have a DJ playing a variety of music, dancing is welcomed and encouraged. Our theme will be a Luau due to the plans for our Honeymoon.
