Melanie Wicher & Matthew Pitts
Location: Chapel Hill, NC
As you may or may not know, Matt and Melanie met about 6 and a half years ago at his going away party when he left Fayetteville for Germany. We corresponded throughout the years, and ended up in Fayetteville, NC at the same time. Who knows how that one happened! We started dating and quickly realized that we had finally found the person we were supposed to spend the rest of our life with. Of course, it helped that we had known each other for so long prior to our official "dating". Our first date was to a Carolina Hurricanes hockey game on December 1, 2006. This was the beginning of our hockey fanatacism. Matt continued this by proposing at a Carolina Hurricanes game on October 22, 2007. Yes, we were on the Jumbotron and "She said YES!" Since then, we have had nothing but the best times learning more about each other and continuing to grow as we started planning our lives together. This is our next step to starting the rest of our lives as a family!
We decided to have our wedding ceremony at The Newman Catholic Campus Ministry on the campus of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The wedding will be a Liturgy of the Word and will begin at 3:30 PM. We hope that everybody is able to share this special day with us!
Our reception will be held in The Old Well Room at The Carolina Inn, across the street from the wedding ceremony. There is a little bit of time between the wedding and the reception, but there is always something to do around UNC! You can take a trip up to Franklin Street or check out the arboretum or planetarium. You can also go back to your hotel prior to the reception to prepare for the festivities! We will be starting hors d'oeuvres at 6:30 PM in The North Parlor, where you will have the choice of several delicious appetizers and be able to take advantage of the open bar. Around 7 PM, you will be seated in The Old Well room and Matt and Melanie will make their first appearance as husband and wife!!! A sit-down dinner will be served and followed with dancing and all the fun traditions such as the toasts, the cake, and the bouquet and garter toss. We hope you are all planning to have as much fun as we are, and celebrate a day we have been waiting for for a long time!
