Mayan Ruins with Mexican Fiesta &Traditional Lunch

Start your shore excursion with a comfortable 30 minute ride to the famed Dzibilchaltun Ruins when your Carnival cruise calls at Progreso. This ancient Mayan site is one of the oldest Mayan ruins on the Yucatan peninsula. It is also one of the most important, with over 2,000 structures. Listen as your guide leads you up to the archaeological site there is a winding path with stone sculptures and towering trees. Once your guided tour is over, you can wander through the ruins and pathways during two hours of exploration time. Check out the Temple of the Seven Dolls also known as the Temple of the Sun on your shore excursion to Progreso. The exacting Maya people built this temple in direct alignment with the sun’s travels. In fact, thousands of visitors gather every spring equinox to see the sun rise and shine squarely through the temple’s openings. Be sure to wear your swim suit to explore the Cenote Xlakah, a deep natural open water pool with clear water. This sacred cenote was most likely the freshwater source for the city. Take a refreshing dip before leaving the sacred grounds and arriving at Ranch Tierra Bonita. A 15 minute drive into the Yucatan countryside will bring you to the spectacular Rancho Tierra Bonita where full Mexican buffet feast awaits your arrival. Fill your plate with delicious and authentic Mexican fare and quench your thirst with unlimited “Ajua” margaritas, cold beer, and refreshing soft drinks. Take a break before the song and dance to shop for local handicrafts from genuine Mexican silver to colorful outfits and souvenirs. Take a seat for the afternoon’s entertainment as Mexican charros sing and dance as the present a colorful folkoric ballet and incredible musical horse show. The charros are traditional horsemen from Mexico who learn equestrian skills traditional to a Mexican rodeo.

It doesn’t get any better than this exciting combo.Your adventure will take you on a journey filled with adventure and fun moments you will never forget. From the pier you will be taken to the base camp where you'll receive a shared vehicle and your safety gear. Participate in a brief orientation and then hop on the Polaris RZR 4 vehicle. Follow your guide on a caravan to the north side of the island. You will then enjoy driving through the heart of the island all the while passing by some important monuments. During the drive, don't miss the scenic views on your journey. You will then be be led through narrow paths surrounded by local vegetation. Make sure to keep your eyes open - chances are you will find some wildlife in the area. Head on to a beach club and get ready for the next adventure - the speedboat ride. During the ride, follow your guide and navigate to fun and adventure. Feel the waves below you and admire the scenic coastline while passing by white sand beaches and mysterious lagoons. This experience happens as you twist and turn aboard your marine machine. Then, it’s time to relax and enjoy a delicious lunch before you drive back to the ship’s pier.
