Next, we’ll go to the Tsunami Museum to learn about the power of the Tsunami, which includes footage of the Tsunami of 1946 that demolished a great deal of Hilo. We have the chance to witness the results of the various volcanic eruptions in Hilo; including the repeated eruptions of Kilauea, Ahalanui warm springs which are volcanically heated to 90-degrees, and the spectacular scenery at MacKenzie State Park. We can’t wait to see the magnificent tree molds created by lava wrapping around the tree, cooling off, and then draining away leaving the mold located in Lava Tree State Park in Puna. Our love will be “frozen in time” as we walk across the “frozen earth” created by the lava flows while seeing an active volcano vent in the distance.
