TABYANA BEACH DAY & GUMBALIMBA

Explore the raw beauty of nature at Gumbalimba Park and then head for a beach where the jungle meets the ocean. On this excursion, you will: Encounter shaded trails, waterfalls, a bird sanctuary, and white face Capuchin Monkeys roaming about in the Monkey Refuge at Gumbalimba Park, Roatan’s finest preservation park. Trace the steps of real pirates at Coxen’s Cave and stroll through the botanical gardens. Travel just 5 minutes away from the park to the beautiful Tabyana Beach. Be greeted by powder white sand, cool trade winds and island music. Bask in the sun on your lounge chair at the water’s edge or retreat to the shade of lush tropical vegetation. Enjoy a refreshing swim in the turquoise waters and go underwater to explore the coral near the shore. NOTE: Iced tea and lemonade included. Guests will have the option to stay longer at the beach; hostess will advise the departure time of the last shuttle bus. Snorkel gear rental and a cash bar are available at the beach.

The first stop, you will visit the iguana farm where you will see and feed hundreds of different kind of iguanas in its natural habitat, then head to Rusty Fish, is a one-of-a-kind place where people come from all over the world to see (and buy) their clever and inspirational artwork. Continue to West End village where you will see the beautiful beach at Half Moon Bay, a variety of gift shops, bars and restaurants. Then stop at the Roatán Rum Company where you will taste a variety of authentic homemade Caribbean rums. Outside you will have the spectacular view with a lighthouse as a point of interest. Next stop will be the only Cameo Factory in the Americas! Enjoy watching master craftsman create both classical and modern cameo masterpieces. Drive through Coxen Hole where you will see the City Hall, on the way to private beach to see how the secretive Garifuna tribe have begun to move into the spotlight and will share their music, give a dance performance teach you some greetings in their native tongue. Watch them make Cassava Bread, a traditional Garifuna dish. Enjoy relaxing a while on this beautiful beach before we take you back to your ship.

Xunantunich Mayan Ruins with Lunch

Discover the magic of this famous Mayan archeological site followed by a Belizean lunch in San Ignacio Town. Your journey begins with a relaxing scenic journey to the Mopan River, passing several villages and towns along the way, and then a 5-minute ferry ride across the river to access the remote ruins. Situated just two miles from the Guatemala border, this site was a major ceremonial center during the Classic Period composed of six major plazas and surrounded by more than 25 temples and palaces. Sitting atop a natural limestone ridge, the site provides panoramic views of the hilly Cayo District. The Introductory Site History and Display Center is found at the entrance to the center and is one of the major attractions. The largest temple, El Castillo, has been excavated and partially restored; it is famous for its frieze, a banded stucco decoration that at one time extended around the entire pyramid. Delve into the Mayan world as you visit the site’s three plazas and partially excavated ball court. After exploring this ancient Mayan site, you will return to the San Ignacio area for a local lunch before heading back with wonderful memories of Belize and its ancient Mayan history.
