Joe and I met the Summer of 84' on a military base in Rantoul, Illinois.  He was about to begin his Senior year of high school and I was entering the ninth grade, so right away, my parents weren't having any of that ! lol.  He remained my huge crush throughout that year...and neither one of us realized our feelings until the next Summer, when his Dad got stationed to a Base in California, and my Dad retired and moved us back to his home in Alabama.  Saying goodbye to each other , not knowing if we would ever see each other again, was one of the hardest things I had ever done, not realizing he felt the same. Time passed, we wrote to each other for a while, then months turned into years, and life took us in different directions. Years later, we spoke over the phone and before I knew it, Joe moved to Alabama to be with me.  We then had a daughter, Breanna, but again, it just wasn't our time...yet!  Well, there is just no way to make this a "short story", but lets just say,  the one person that made us a family is the one that brought us back together almost 40 years after we first locked eyes on the playground.  Breanna, now almost 30, had been acccepted to the Deputy Sheriff's Academy , where she graduated almost 2 years ago, when she was introduced to her Dad, and he was re-introduced to her very nervous Mom ( that would be me ).  Nerves were instantly and surpisingly replaced by the familiarity of the love I had all those years ago for my first crush......first kiss....first boyfriend.  I could have never imagined that in all these years I had been the love of his life . How very blessed I am , that our lives have really come full circle...and my first...will be my last.
