David and Kayla met in 2011 and immediately hit it off. They dated for a while at that time but went their separate ways with no ill feelings.
Throughout the years in between, they remained friends and would follow each other's lives through social media and mutual friends.
Fast forward to a few years ago; David reached out to catch up on how Kayla's life was going and offered a sense of familiarity and support during a hardship in her life. Conversation flowed freely as it always did with them and they decided to meet for drinks. One drink led to two and so on.
Kayla was skeptical about getting into a relationship as her children had been through a lot that year, but they felt their emotions towards each other growing and considered giving "THEM" a shot. David and Kayla decided that if the children had any reservations about him, they would not continue pursuing a relationship (as hard as that may have been). Needless to say, they fell in love with him as quickly as she did.
As David's snack cabinet dwindled, so did their reservations about a relationship. They made it official roughly in May 2021 and have had the absolute best relationship since. She never knew how easy it was to love and be loved. Relationships shouldn't be hard.
David eventually left his hometown to move in with Kayla, Madelyn, and Joseph, sometime in 2022.
While on vacation, October 12th, 2023 David purposed on the beach in Freeport, Bahamas. Kayla, Madelyn, and Joey had gone on a walk to search for sea shells. Upon returning and showing David what they found, he exclaimed that he found one too and got down on one knee asking Kayla to marry him. With some excitement and ugly crying, she said "YES!"
