Kim really loves the French language. She always laughs as she tries to pronounce the words correctly. That means she’s having fun right? Let’s hope we don’t get too many stares from locals as we visit Arles and Aix en Provence as we read aloud together as we find our way through the cities. While here, we’ll be able to see some ancient Roman amphitheaters and the beautiful Romanesque St. Trophime church. We’ll also be able to walk in the footsteps of Vincent Van Gogh, as he gained inspiration for some of his best known works. Hopefully it doesn’t inspire us to cut off our own ears.

Florence & Pisa
We’ll be visiting Pisa and Florence (Terence is super excited about going here so he can see all the landmarks he spent time at in the Assassins Creed video games). While on this excursion, we’ll be stopping at a few different landmarks, including the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the Baptistery, the Ponte Vecchio, and Campanile Bell Tower. We will also be able to enter the Tower of Pisa to check on Grandpa Piciullo’s handywork, which he claims is the reason why the tower is still standing today.

Corfu: Achillion & Paleokastritsa
On Corfu we’ll be seeing what is considered to be the greenest and prettiest of the Greek Islands. According to Greek mythology, Ulysses was shipwrecked in Paleokastritsa and me Nausicaa, whom he thought resembled the Goddess Artemis. In Paleokastritsa, we will visit the Monastery of the Holy Virgin and the Achilleion Palace. We will also visit Perama to admire the natural beauty of the island.

Taormina & Mt. Etna
The port of Messina will be the starting point for a trip that will enable us to experience the landscape and flora and fauna of Sicily. Accompanied by a local guide, we will travel through vineyard sand valleys of stratified lava, until reaching an altitude of 2,000 meters (that’s over 6500 feet – no need to do that math!). From the top of the Silvestri Craters we will be able to admire the Volcano in its entire spectacular , and at the same time terrifying charm.
