| Last September Ashley bought us tickets to a Jaguars game in Jacksonville as a surprise and I truly was surprised and happy for her too considering she had never been to an NFL game before, also because I had originally planned on proposing to her during halftime! So I contacted the lady in charge of scoreboard announcements and I was told the only guarantee was that it would show up sometime during halftime and the duration of the message was undetermined because of other announcements and sponsor obligations, so I decided to hold off in favor of a more “controlled” scenario. At the end of this same trip we were in Savannah, Georgia for two days so I then figured that maybe this would be the right time I just had to find a time and place… Well, it didn’t quite work out that easily mainly because we were so invested in exploring a new place and experiencing local flavors that yet again it still just wasn’t the right time. Now this whole time I had the ring on me or in my bag which was incredibly unnerving for me for fear of losing it. Eventually some weeks later I came to the sound conclusion that I wanted to share this moment in a place we both love and on a day that is special to both of us. So after I opened the last gift she had given me she asked if all my birthday wishes had come true, I said all but one, and proposed to her! So FINALLY on my 29th birthday, December 01 2013, I decided to use my birthday wish in hopes for a YES which is exactly what happened. I was still pretty anxiously, happily-nervous to propose because I love her so much. The proposal is now another fun anniversary to celebrate in our love story and we could not be happier. After proposing, she admittedly expressed some interest in my recent nervous and fumbling demeanor. I definitely don’t think she was expecting all this at that moment but now is still the single-best memory that we have! |
