If one had to choose 1 phrase to describe this wedding it would have to be, "it's about time!" When we announce our engagement to our friends and family, the top 2 reactions we received were,

• "I thought you were already married?" - We are not. Laura has never been one for big parties or lots of attention and one of Chris' favorite cliches is, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." So it was easy to build our lives together just the way things were. 15 years of living together and we are stronger and happier than ever.

And, of course,

• "Why now?" - This one is a bit more complicated. I think Chris just found the perfect opportunity to propose and we had both reached a point in our lives where we felt confident in sharing the balance of having this momentous life event but doing it by our own rules and preferences. No expensive parties, no unnecessary frills - just us, our daughters, and a small gathering of our closest firends and family to make it official.

So, here we are! Proof that opposites attract and can actually be happy for the long haul.
